Bruce Edwards is an award-winning author of young adult fiction. His books famously explore the peculiarities in human behavior through imaginative storytelling. Before venturing into writing, he made his living as a rock musician and feature film character animator. His more unusual vocational detours include a stint as a puppeteer and performing magic at Disneyland. Bruce currently lives in Orange County, California.
Fun Fact: Bruce experimented with reading his books live to a cinematic soundtrack.
Animator
Bruce has been an avid animation fan since early childhood. As a teen he experimented with stop-motion techniques, with the aid of the family's 8mm home movie camera. He later dabbled in computer animation, just as the new art form was gaining worldwide popularity. His creative pursuits ultimately led to a career as a feature film animator, working for such notable Hollywood studios as Warner Bros. Feature Animation and Fox Animation Studios.
Fun Fact: Bruce animated the title character in The Iron Giant, the first feature film for Academy Award-winning director Brad Bird.
Musician
For more than half of his life, Bruce made his living making music. He began by taking drum lessons at age twelve, and later developed his musical talent amid San Francisco's rock music explosion of the late 1960s. Besides performing live, he composed and recorded everything from pop tunes to radio jingles. Bruce continues to display his passion for music through the music videos he produces to promote his books.
Fun Fact: At the tender age of 14 Bruce began his music career drumming alongside his older brothers in the rock band The Edwards Brothers.
Magician
Bruce learned to perform Magic as a cast member at California's Disneyland. He would later adapt his skills in creative ways, such as providing the hands of a novelty puppet that performed close-up magic tricks. Bruce's proficiency earned him membership at Hollywood's prestigious Magic Castle.
Fun Fact: Bruce worked at Disneyland's Main Street Magic Shop, where a young Steve Martin would hone his comedy chops.
